A&P Inphatec Announces 2024 Field Trial Efficacy Results for XylPhi-PD®
In 2024, A&P Inphatec, a leading developer of bacteriophages, hosted an insightful field day with esteemed growers from Napa and Sonoma. These growers, who have been utilizing XylPhi-PD® for many years, shared their valuable experiences during the event. We are delighted to announce the release of a video capturing these moments, offering a glimpse into the practical benefits and successes of XylPhi-PD® in the field.
XylPhi-PD® is(EPA Reg. No. 93909-1) a bacteriophage based biopesticide registered for use in California and is commercially available through Wilbur-Ellis Agribusiness locations state-wide. Also, XylPhi-PD® is OMRI-listed and can be used for organic production.
Napa County— In August 2024, A&P Inphatec, Cortina Vineyard Management, and Wilbur-Ellis Agribusiness hosted a field day in Yountville, Napa County, CA. The objective of the field day was to demonstrate the success of “buffer zone” treatment using XylPhi-PD®. This vineyard has experienced high Pierce’s disease pressure, and, in the past, the strategy to control Pierce’s disease in this area. Using XylPhi-PD® a buffer zone of 20 vines from the border of the Napa River was established for treatment. Each row within the buffer zone received four injections at a 60 μl dose per injection, twice per season. After using XylPhi-PD® for five consecutive years, visual and molecular testing revealed no new cases of vines infected with Pierce’s disease in the treated buffer zone or other areas of the vineyard. These results demonstrate that XylPhi-PD® can be used as a preventative approach to decrease Pierce’s disease in grapevines. Napa County field day in August 2024
Sonoma County—. In August 2024, A&P Inphatec, Bevill Vineyard Management, and Wilbur-Ellis Agribusiness hosted a field day to demonstrate the efficacy of XylPhi-PD® application in a young Sauvignon Blanc vineyard located in Dry Creek Valley, Sonoma County, CA. A buffer zone of 25 vines from the border along riparian area was established for treatment. Each vine within the buffer zone was received four injections at a 60 μl dose per injection, twice per season. After three consecutive years of XylPhi-PD® application, visual and molecular testing revealed no new cases of Pierce’s disease present in the treated buffer zone or other areas of the vineyard. These results demonstrate that XylPhi-PD® can be used as a preventative approach to decrease Pierce’s disease in grapevines. Sonoma County field day in August 2024
